Ocean Eyes, the third album from band Owl City, was released in stores on July 28, 2009 and was available exclusively to iTunes on July 14, 2009. The Ocean Eyes release date was moved forward from the original date of September 1, 2009.

Owl City held a promotion leading up to the much anticipated Ocean Eyes release, starting in May 2009: The first Tuesday of each month, fans could purchase a new Owl City song from iTunes, which will put the fan into a drawing to see Owl City live on the summer tour. Songs released include Hot Air Balloon, Strawberry Avalanche and more. Adam Young says that while Ocean Eyes was also written and recorded in his parents basement in Owatonna, Minnesota, Ocean Eyes has more purpose and he knows more about the programming, producing and engineering than he did with his first two albums, Of June and Maybe I'm Dreaming.
